A Fresh Way to Gather & Grow

There’s no better way to enjoy the summer than finding a moment to gather with friends and family. Coming together to enjoy each other’s company, create memories and share a meal. We love finding clever ways to make these gatherings more sustainable too.

So how do you make a gathering more sustainable? Here’s a simple way: grow your food. Just imagine when your guests experience a salad or fresh garnish that was literally picked before their very eyes.

Here’s how you can do it.

Find somewhere within your yard, deck, or balcony that gets 6-8 hours of full sunlight.

Buy or build a container that can hold the types of plants you’re wanting to grow. Or you can salvage a container you already have. Anything works here, even an old bucket. It’s better to use only the space you need in order to manage the amount of soil and water you’ll require.

Depending on what you want to grow you should consider depth and drainage. Plants like tomatoes with larger roots systems require deeper soil and drainage, plants like lettuce with shorter roots, do not.

We think when it comes to deciding what to plant, the key is to plant what your gathering will actually eat.

We’d suggest you start with things that grow well in containers and that grow relatively fast. Lettuce is perfect. You can also buy tomato plants that already have small green tomatoes developing.

Sound delicious so far?

If your garden is partially covered you’ll need to add some additional water that the rain couldn’t get to. Chances are you have left over water in your reusable water bottle from your last workout – use that.

Now, the hardest part is usually having the patience to wait. But your efforts will be soon rewarded.

Your day is finally here.

Don’t pick your bounty before your guests have arrived. Make it part of the party. Invite them all to help.

Then gather together and enjoy a salad that’ll be the talk of the summer, like our Beet & Grapefruit Salad with Avocado Cream, infused with our sustainable and sungrown Solei Gather cannabis. Or spray a small dose of Solei Gather Oral Spray over a dish to really bring your special gathering together.

And here’s the best part; your garden will continue to grow. This is not a one-time event. It’s an on-going process that will provide food, and more opportunities to gather, until the late fall. Sustainable and delicious.

When the harvest is over, compost anything you have left. Then put your garden to bed. And plan for next year.
